This tall and fearless Belgian has been a protagonist in the tussle for the FIM MX-1 World Championship crown for the last three seasons and has won Grands Prix each term since 2007. For 2010 the 25 year old is welcomed to the Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci Motocross Team where he will race and develop the new YZ450F.
De Dycker’s tough and physical on-bike demeanour means that he is routinely one of the fastest members of the highly-competitive MX1-GP pack. His excellence in the sand has been seen in several dominant displays in recent years, most noticeably in Holland and Belgium during the summer of 2009.
His emergence as a threat on the Grand Prix stage began in earnest in 2006 when he routinely troubled the leaders and grasped his first podium through the fine soil of the Sugo circuit in Japan. He continued to evolve and was more pro-active in 2007 where he won his first motos and first Grand Prix (Sweden). 2008 and his maiden year as a factory rider further improved his CV with a dominant start to the season at Valkenswaard where he romped clear in both motos. He fought with fellow Yamaha rider David Philippaerts for the title up until the final round and added another win and eight podiums.
2009 was interrupted by small injury hassles but he still doubled his win tally (2) and enjoyed 7 visits to the rostrum (most memorably at his home event in Lommel where he threw all his kit into the crowd). De Dycker has not dropped out of the top five in world championship positions since 2006 and also a former winner of British and German national competitions.
