Northern Ireland’s leading Grand Prix racer Martin Barr has been a supported rider with the Utag Yamaha.com team for a number of years in his junior events. His efforts in a commendable first full season of world championship competition in 2007 means that he now enjoys top flight status in the British crew.
A former multiple Irish and Ulster Schoolboy champion Barr has also represented his country at the Motocross of Nations three times.
His development on the highest stage has been impressive. Aged just 19 he took his first Grand Prix points during the 2006 season in which he attempted a number of rounds but could not qualify. In just twelve months he made radical forward progress and 2007 saw him move up from 55th in the championship to 27th, scoring points in ten motos and only missing qualification four times.
