It was another fierce battle for the win and Ferrandis once again proved that he is capable of running at the front. The opening moto had him fall in line in third after a good start and stayed within striking distance of the leader after inheriting second. In the end, a second was what he had, so he focused on moto two. This time his start was even better and he found himself in the lead by the end of the first lap. Ferrandis held off constant pressure to finish with his third win of the season.
The day started out on a high note for Cooper who grabbed the moto one holeshot. He maintained the lead for four laps before going down in the rollers. Cooper remounted and still managed to finish fourth. In the second moto, he once again put his Yamaha YZ250F at the front of the pack but relinquished the lead to his teammate. After some great battling, Cooper crossed the finish line in fourth. His 4-4 moto score put him fourth overall.
Continuing his consistency, Nichols was once again in the mix of the racing this weekend at Unadilla. After a tough start in moto one where he came around the first lap in 16th, he managed to pick off riders and put in a fifth-place ride. Moto two saw him get a much better start in sixth and he maintained the position throughout the race. His 5-6 moto scores gave him fifth overall.
The young gun Masterpool kept a positive attitude as he started off the day in moto one with a 19th place start. He had his work cut out for him and managed to get back up to 11th by the time the checkered flag flew. The second moto was better in terms of starts where he was 11th around the first lap, but a few mistakes midway during the race pushed him back to 12th where he finished. His 11-12 helped round out another top 10 for the rookie.
As the day started, Oldenburg entered the first moto with confidence after having a great qualifying session. His good start in moto one afforded him the chance to put himself in the top 10. Oldenburg didn’t hold back and pulled off a ninth in the opening moto. When Oldenburg lined up for moto two, a technical issue prevented him from starting and he took off late, forcing him to end the second moto in 37th.
