Ferrandis Finishes Runner-Up at Hot Hangtown Classic

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis returned to the podium at Round 2 of the Pro Motocross Championship at the Hangtown Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, finishing second overall on his 2-3 moto scores. His great ride amid hot temperatures and challenging track conditions pushed him into second overall in the 450MX championship standings.

The race in Northern California was not for the faint of heart as the temperatures pushed into the 90s on race day, making for a dry and tough track to navigate. In the morning sessions, Ferrandis qualified fifth overall and continued to make adjustments to get his Yamaha YZ450F where he wanted it to be. The Frenchman jumped out to a great start in the first moto and grabbed the holeshot. He was second after the first few turns and held steady in the runner-up position until the checkered flag. In the second moto, Ferrandis once again found the front pack early and was fourth. He was pushing to stay close to the podium, eventually inheriting third after a rider went down. Ferrandis held onto third until the end, awarding him second overall with his 2-3 moto scores.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team will start their trek east, starting with a stop in Lakewood, Colorado, at Thunder Valley Motocross Park for Round 3 of the Pro Motocross Championship and the 20th round of the SuperMotocross World Championship.

“We made improvements to the bike all day. This track isn’t what I normally like, and it was hard to find places to pass. Second overall is good on paper, but we need to work a little more to be there for the win. We’ll work to get back there as soon as we can.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager

“Today was a great day. The team worked very hard during the week to get Dylan happier on the bike and to close the gap that we had at Pala. I think we showed today that it was successful. We will continue to push and try and get Dylan back on the top step of the podium.”
