Justin Barcia stays the course in 2020 on the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing team. “What a year, I won the opening round of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship at Anaheim. Then got banged up and missed a few rounds, then I had a broken finger and missed the last (3) rounds. The MX championship was a challenge as my finger was not 100% and I struggled most of the season, finally earning a podium at Unadilla. After a little time off, we started testing the new 450 and the stock bike is just phenomenal. I went to France for the Paris SX and came back the King of Paris! With the team’s direction in pre-season testing and the new 450, I am feeling considerably more comfortable and excited for the new season”. – Justin Barcia
In 2019 Justin returned to the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Team and won the opening round of the FIM/AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series in Anaheim, California. After missing several rounds (due to injuries), he finished 13th in the Supercross standings and 7th overall in the AMA 450MX Championship. Post-season, Barcia finished 6th at the Monster Energy Cup and won the Paris Supercross, becoming a 3-time King of Paris SX, held in France in November.
Nearly out of a ride in 2018, Barcia was picked up by the Factory Yamaha squad to fill in for injured rider Davi Millsaps. Barcia quickly showed that he wasn’t ready to throw in the towel and was a title contender with multiple podium appearances. Barcia continued to be a consistent top ten contender in the AMA 450MX class. His committed work ethic tempered by discretion of experience make him a championship threat anytime he competes. His solid results on the Yamaha earned him a contract extension.
Barcia has some international accolades as well. Along with his three King of Paris SX titles including his most recent in November of 2019, a Genoa Supercross win, and he has been on the podium with Team USA at the Motocross of Nations in 2012 and 2015. Justin was again a member of the 2018 Motocross of Nations Team.
Nicknamed “Bam Bam” for his aggressive riding style, Barcia earned back-to-back Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX East titles in 2011 and 2012.
