Estenson Racing’s AFT SuperTwins Team Scores Points on Challenging Weekend at the Springfield Mile

“The Springfield Mile wasn’t what we had hoped for. Yesterday we showed a little bit of promise. JD’s bike was working pretty well. We got it going around the track and definitely made some pretty big gains. He was running third on the first lap in the first group, battling for a top-five. So we thought we were maybe onto something there and could build on that for today. Unfortunately, today even with a similar bike, the track changed a little and we were having a hard time regaining the speed we had yesterday and struggled more than we had hoped. Kolby on both days just wasn’t able to find what he was hoping for and was fighting things a little bit.

"The guys worked super hard. The riders were putting out their maximum effort. We just didn’t quite end up where we’d hoped. Next week we go to a little different track, we’ll try some of the new stuff that we tried here and hopefully can get things moving in a better direction.”

“It was another tough weekend for us. It was definitely a weird track this weekend. You could ride anywhere you wanted but there was no grip. Usually, this track is known to have a lot of grip and be really good, but even going down the straightaways it was all dry and broke up.

“It’s really frustrating because we’ll get glimmers of hope and the bike will be working well. It just dangles out in front of us and then rips it away. I feel like we have the stuff to do it. It’s just one thing or another. I know myself and the team are all working super hard. We’re not giving up. We’re just going to keep at it. We made it through this weekend healthy at least, and then we’ll give it a go next weekend.”

“It was a super tough weekend for the whole team. It just seems like it was one gremlin after the next. We were fighting some issues and having a hard time finding the pace. We’re going to pinpoint the problem this week and hopefully come back next week stronger.”
