Frenchman Xavier de Soultrait came of age during the 2019 Dakar Rally. After numerous years demonstrating his potential as a privateer, he rose to the occasion with the Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team Rider claiming a debut stage victory on route to seventh overall.
Xavier entered the 2018 Dakar Rally ready to demonstrate his vast potential. Starting the event with fifth on the opening stage and going on to finish stage four in a close runner-up spot behind Adrien Van Beveren, Xavier remained within striking distance of the top of the leader board until a fall during stage eight.
Demonstrating impressive speed in long rally stages, Xavier has worked hard over the last few years to perfect his navigational skills. First experiencing the Dakar in 2014 he placed 34th, before rapidly improving to 13th on his second participation in 2015.
During the 2016 season, he secured an encouraging sixth-place result at the Merzouga Rally and an eighth-place result at the Oilibya Rally. Enjoying a strong season in 2017 he took his first multi-stage rally victory at the Merzouga Rally, placed fifth at the Atacama Rally, third at the Desafio Ruta 40 and fourth at the Baja Inka Rally.
Ambitious but calm, smart and now highly experienced, Xavier has all the qualities needed to be a winning rally raid competitor. Now entering his sixth Dakar Rally, the Frenchman has his eyes set on climbing onto the podium in Saudi Arabia.
