Van de Moosdijk Claims Fourth Podium Finish and Moves Into The Top-3 in the EMX250 Championship
ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha Official EMX250's Roan van de Moosdijk has moved up into third-place in the EMX250 Championship Standings following a scintillating performance at the penultimate round of the eleven-round series, at the circuit of Sevlievo in Bulgaria, that saw him stand on the podium for the fourth time this season.
Following a solid sixth place finish in the opening race yesterday, van de Moosdijk upped his game and was one of the fastest riders around the steep and dry clay-track in the final race today. The Dutchman launched an attack on the newly crowned EMX250 Champion Mathijs Boisrame on his hunt for victory, and despite a fierce challenge for the win, he was forced to settle for second-place, which was enough for third overall.
Teammate, Nicholas Lapucci made an impressive return to racing following a four-round hiatus, with two top-ten finishes. The Italian powered his YZ250F to an incredible sixth place start in Race 1, where he ran the pace of the front-runners for twenty-five minutes before fading back to eighth, while fellow ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha YZ250F rider Caleb Grothues put in an encouraging ride for sixteenth.
In contrast to the epic start of the opening race, Lapucci had to fight from outside the top-fifteen and up into ninth in the final race of the weekend. He finished on the same points as the rider in fifth position, but was demoted to sixth-place in the overall classification. Grothues continued to improve with every session and put in a hard graft in the final race for thirteenth-place, and sixteenth overall.
Heading into the final round of the 2018 EMX250 Championship, that will take place on the weekend of September 16th in Assen, The Netherlands, Roan van de Moosdijk sits third in the Championship Standings, 37-points short of the rider in second position.
