Niccolò Canepa

Niccolò Canepa is the first Italian to win an FIM Endurance World Championship after lifting the 2016/2017 title in just his second season with the GMT94 Yamaha Official EWC Team. The 2007 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup Champion has also competed in the MotoGP World Championship, Moto2 World Championship, WorldSBK Championship, WorldSSP Championship, and the Superstock 600 European Championship and his brings this wealth of experience to the GMT94 team.

Canepa is also the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team Test Rider and substituted for an injured Sylvain Guintoli for four races during the 2016 season, securing four top-ten finishes. He also filled-in for the injured Florian Marino in two races that season in the STK1000 European Championship, recording a podium (3rd) at Donington Park. In 2018, he will complete two wildcards during the 2018 FIM Superbike World Championship for the Pata Team at Magny-Cours and one other round that is yet to be announced.

Niccolò's final season with GMT94 ahead of their move to WorldSSP in 2019 was a successful one. The team again found their way into the top two overall and Canepa was instrumental in bringing in the points that got them there. Niccolò will be joining the YART Yamaha Official EWC Team for the 2018/2019 season alongside Broc Parkes and Marvin Fritz, bringing with him a wealth of experience and passion.
