Vela takes commanding victory in Spain with the Yamaha EXR
The Yamaha EX/EXR riders took to the waters of Marbella on May 22nd for round two of the Spanish EXR Cup Cup, with Carlos Vela, Santiago Elizalde and Carlos Villar taking the top three positions.
Strong winds on the day proved a big challenge for the riders, and with the action shortened to just one race due to a coastguard ban it was an intense day of riding.
Vela led the race from lap one to the end, making no mistakes on his way to a strong victory. Elizalde showed an improvement in form to take second, ahead of Villar who initially finished second but was demoted to third after a penalty for jumping a buoy.
Behind the podium finishers, Anton Rico and Miguel Lamas came home fourth and fifth as they continue to learn their new Yamaha machinery. The rest of the field did not finish the race due to technical issues related to the weather conditions, with some opting not to start in the challenging conditions.
The Spanish Yamaha EX/EXR Cup will return on September 14th / 15th in Cádiz (Andalucía).
