Fourth win of 2019 for Cable at Ostend

The 2019 P1 AquaX EuroTour presented by Experience Kissmmee headed to the resort town of Ostend on the Belgian coast for the second leg of the Championship, which for the first time this year featured the Yamaha EX/EXR Cup. A new initiative between Yamaha Europe and P1 AquaX, the Cup competition is aimed at attracting Yamaha EX and EXR owners to try their hand at competitive racing. An on-site Yamaha team provides support for the EX and EXR WaveRunners competing in the Cup. Entry is free and the EX/EXR owner with the most points at the end of the weekend takes home the Cup and Yamaha prizes.

Britain’s Elliot Cable, who bought his EXR for the purposes of racing, took home the Cup for the fourth time this season in Ostend. He also gave the EXR its first win of the season in the Open Sprint class. “I was really looking forward to racing on the North Sea” said the 24-year-old Yorkshireman. “I knew the conditions would be the most challenging of the season and when the going got tough my EXR outperformed the competition. I took the holeshot in the final race of the day, never looked back and won by almost half a lap.”

“The EXR is a new model and this programme offers owners an inexpensive route into racing” explained Lisa Barsby, Head of AquaX – Global. “All the owners have to do is register their interest, order their free EX/EXR racing sticker kit and turn up to the next event where they can enjoy support from the Yamaha Team. It’s a great opportunity”.

The 2019 Cup competition kicked off in early May and includes a total of eight P1 AquaX and Jetcross race weekends in France, Belgium, Spain and England through to October.

The next event on the weekend of 13th -14th July will take the riders to the English Riviera, when Torquay will be the host venue.
