Elliot Cable’s unbeaten run came to an end in Torquay earlier this month when Nick Brockbanks lifted the Cup, but the 24-year-old Yorkshireman returned to winning ways on the River Allier. This is only his second year of racing and he enjoyed the challenging condiZons in Vichy: “The experienced riders talk about it being one of the most attractive but testing venues on the calendar” said Elliot. “The back wash from the river walls makes the racing tough and the temperature climbed to 30 degrees, but I enjoyed it.”
Elliot was competing against three high-profile Yamaha guest riders that included multiple runabout closed-course and offshore world champion Teddy Pons, who was one of Elliot’s favourite riders when he was a youngster. Teddy was joined by stand-up ski racer Jennifer Menard and veteran rider Olivier Vidal from JetPulsion Magazine.
On the Friday and Saturday, riders were give the opportunity to test the Yamaha EXR on the Jetcross course. The Yamaha wet pit facilities were open to all Yamaha owners with drinks available and ATV to help riders launch their skis.
Joel Bontoux, the operaZons manager for Yamaha Marine France, explained: “It’s part of Yamaha’s DNA to be involved in racing and support our riders. We are pleased to be in Vichy with P1 Jetcross for the third time this season. It’s a superb venue. We are delighted with all the positive comments we’ve received from customers and retailers about the Yamaha EX/EXR Cup, and we already have ideas for next season.”
The Cup events kicked off in early May and include a total of eight AquaX and Jetcross race weekends in France, Belgium, England and Spain through to October.
