Toilsome Round in Trentino for MJC Yamaha Trio

Toilsome Round in Trentino for MJC Yamaha Trio

The second round of the EMX125 Championship at Pietramurata, Italy, gave the MJC Yamaha EMX125 trio of Florian Miot, Luca Diserens and Magnus Smith, a chance to redeem themselves after a tough opening round. In the first practice sessions, it was clear that all three riders had regrouped. Miot was the only rider to qualify last weekend at the first round of the championship and he managed to do the same again by setting the fourth fastest lap time in his qualifying session. His teammates Diserens and Smith qualified for the first time this season with the 12th and 16th fastest times in their group.

The track in Trentino has a very uncanny slightly uphill left-hand first-turn that switches back to a right-hand turn almost instantly. It always causes carnage and it managed to maintain its reputation with Miot being its first victim of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Smith and Diserens did their best to navigate the damp and highly technical clay circuit and eventually managed to finish 27th and 34th. After some overnight work on the rutted track, the EMX125 riders were the first to line-up for their second race this morning.

Smith impressed with a near points scoring 22nd place finish, while Diserens made some small mistakes and finished 35th. Miot was unable to line-up due to a minor wrist injury. The third round of the European EMX125 Championship will take place on the weekend of May 12th in Mantova, Italy.
