MJC Yamaha EMX125's Florian Miot rocketed out of the gate onboard his GYTR kitted YZ125 in the opening race of the weekend. The young Frenchman wasted no time out on the challenging rut strewn circuit as he moved from seventh up into fifth, while his teammate Magnus Smith did his best to fight for valuable championship points. At the flag, Miot rounded out the top-five for the first time this season, while Smith claimed 2-points for 18th place. The start of the second and final race of the weekend was a blue-print of race one.
Miot got off to another sensational top-7 start and put chase to the front runners as Smith found himself caught in a mid-pack battle for points. After a thrilling duel with Liam Everts, son of the Europe's most successful motocross rider and former Yamaha ace Stefan Everts, Miot moved up into sixth before a collision with another rider dropped him back to tenth.
The youngster managed to fight back up to eighth and held the position till the flag to post his best overall result this season, seventh. Unfortunately, Smith fell from 19th but like his teammate, he never gave up and despite falling again, he eventually finished 27th for 24th overall.
As the sun blazed overhead and temperatures rose above 25 degrees Celsius, the German clay turned rough and edgy. MJC Yamaha's Benistant relished the challenging conditions as he remained strong inside the top-five from gate-drop to the checkered flag in the first race, while SDM Corse Yamaha EMX250's Rick Elzinga struggled to get comfortable on the rut-riddled circuit and finished 13th. In the second race, the duo was squeezed off the start. The '98' of Benistant and '172' of Elzinga pushed each other as they looked for ways to pass the riders in front of them.
After starting outside of the top-20, the pair moved fluidly through the field and finished 12th and 13th respectively. Both EMX125 and EMX250 championships will have a 5-week break heading into the penultimate rounds that will take place on the weekend of August 4th in Lommel, Belgium
