Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Pick Up the Pace on Mugello Saturday

Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp‘s Manuel Gonzalez and Kasma Daniel were pushing in the Gran Premio d‘Italia Moto2 qualifying. Gonzalez underlined the progress he made since last year by clocking a 1‘50.995s. However his lap was cancelled as he slightly exceeded track limits. His second best lap secured him 11th place in Q2. Kasma Daniel made a solid time improvement in Q1 and will start tomorrow‘s race from 30th place on the grid.

Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp‘s Manuel Gonzalez and Kasma Daniel made the most of the dry conditions during qualifying at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello. Manuel Gonzalez showed great speed in the early stages of Q2 and ultimately secured P11 on the grid for tomorrow‘s Gran Premio d‘Italia. Kasma Daniel took part in Q1 and will start the race from P30.

Gonzalez‘ first hot lap of Q2 put him in P3, but the competition was stiff in the Moto2 class this afternoon. He was pushing and set a 1'50.995s which would have earned him fourth place, but the lap was cancelled due to exceeding track limits. He tried to keep the momentum going but was unable to find a time improvement. His earlier best time, a 1‘51.325s set on lap 2/8, put him in 11th place in the qualifying results.

Daniel booked great progress on the Saturday. He upped his pace in both the P3 and the Q1 session as he‘s getting more and more familiar with the Mugello Circuit and the 2023 Moto2 bike every time he goes out. The Malaysian rider built up his pace in the 15-minute shoot-out and set a 1‘54.277s best time on lap 8/8. His 16th position in the Q1 rankings puts him in 30th place on the grid.

"It was a very good quali day. In Practice 3 we continued improving the setting of the bike. Even not doing a great lap, we still entered Q2. Then in qualifying, I did a 1‘50.9s, which was an incredible lap, and it would have been for P4, but I touched the green, and the lap time was cancelled. I don‘t care too much because I'm feeling very optimistic, and I'm confident that in tomorrow‘s race we can get a great result."

"We tried different settings in P3 to understand the bike and to make it easy to ride for me. We couldn‘t find a good lap time, but anyway we did improve compared to yesterday, and I‘m very happy: I‘ve been able to make progress. Of course, by spending more time on the bike, we could improve more, but tomorrow is already race day. I want to enjoy the race with no pressure."

"Very good feelings today. The cancellation of Manu‘s good lap was a pity, since if he had not touched the green zone, he would have finished fourth. In any case, I am very happy with Manu‘s work, the reward will come in the end.

"Kasma continues to adapt to this difficult category. We know that it is not easy for him, but his entire technical team is working with him to help him in any way we can. Little by little he is improving his records and in the last lap of Q1 he managed to do his best lap."
