Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team‘s Manuel Gonzalez is a big fan of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and it showed in the Friday results. He was the fastest man in the afternoon session, while placing fifth place in the combined P1 + P2 classifications. Kohta Nozane used the Friday sessions to adjust his riding style. He ended the day in 30th place in the combined results.
Gonzalez enjoys riding at the Montmeló track, and it showed in P1. He was quickly on the pace at the start of the session and was soon able to get to work tweaking his bike‘s setting. He finished the morning in 10th place with a best time of 1‘45.428s, set on lap 18/19.
The number-18 rider was keen to make another step in the afternoon. The Spaniard worked towards an impressive time at the end of the session. The 1‘44.956s posted on lap 14/16 put him at the top of the P2 timesheets. It earned him fifth position in the combined results.
Nozane knows the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from when he was riding in WorldSBK, but the transition to Moto2 proved challenging. He ended his first intermediate session on Catalan soil with a 1‘47.425s on lap 17/17 that put him in 30th place.
The Japanese rider put in another 18 laps in the afternoon. It took him only three laps to find a time improvement and he spent the remaining time working on his riding style. His 1‘47.126s best effort earned him 29th in the P2 rankings and 30th in the combined timesheets.
