Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team’s Manuel Gonzalez and Keminth Kubo went all out in the final qualifying sessions of their and the team’s debut season in the Moto2 World Championship class. The duo secured P14 and P28 on the grid for tomorrow’s Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana.
Gonzalez had to go through Q1 but showed that he had the pace and determination to get the job done. He finished the session strong with a 1'34.946s, posted on lap 8/9, to take third place, 0.188s from first.
The local rider’s confidence was boosted by his Q1 performance. It spurred him on to push even harder in the Q2 session. He soon settled into seventh place with a 1’34.928s set on lap 3/8. Unable to improve further, he ended the session in 14th place in the qualifying results and is feeling keen to make a challenge for the top 10 again tomorrow.
Kubo had an extra fire burning within him today at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Gearing up for his final race with the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team, the Moto2 rookie was determined to make it a memorable occasion. Though he’s not a big fan of the Valencian circuit and didn't have a good feeling on the bike, he was pushing hard to get a good starting position for tomorrow. He set a 1'35.823s on his eighth and last lap for 14th place in the Q1 results, which puts him in 28th place on the grid for the final GP of the 2022 Moto2 season.
