PETRONAS Yamaha SRT arrive in Europe in excellent shape

After the first three flyaway rounds, the MotoGP World Championship arrives in Europe, where the next eleven races of the 2019 season will take place. The Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit hosts the Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth round of the year, where the PETRONAS Yamaha SRT team will look to pick up from where they left off at the recent Grand Prix of The Americas. In Austin, the pair earned their best results in the premier class to date.

Franco Morbidelli claimed his first MotoGP Top 5 finish at the Circuit of The Americas, with the Italian showing that he was able to ride with the fastest competitors in the class. He now heads to the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit, where his best result is a fourth place from 2016 in Moto2. Both he and his teammate have already ridden at the track with their Yamaha machines, in last November’s post-season test.

Fabio Quartararo continues to enjoy a great start to the season - his seventh place finish in Austin took him to 17 points in the overall standings, maintaining his position as the best MotoGP rookie of the year so far. The PETRONAS Yamaha SRT rider has great memories of Jerez, as it was there that he was proclaimed champion of the FIM CEV series in 2013. His best result at the Spanish track in the World Championship is a fourth place in 2015, when competing in Moto3.

The fourth race of the 2019 season will take place on Sunday at 2pm local time.
