MotorLand Aragón One More Time for PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team

MotorLand Aragón One More Time for PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team

Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli in MotoGP action for third weekend running.

This weekend PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team’s MotoGP duo of Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli will be in action for the second race running at MotorLand Aragón, as they take on the third event in the October triple header: the Gran Premio de Teruel.

After a disappointing race at the Aragon GP, which saw Quartararo suffer from a front tyre pressure issue, the Frenchman will be looking to reclaim his lead in the championship standings. After taking pole position last weekend at MotorLand Aragón, Fabio is confident in the one-lap pace of his bike and that he can end the second race at the circuit with a better result.

Team-mate Morbidelli gained vital knowledge at the Spanish circuit last weekend, and will be looking to put it to good use in the 11th round of the MotoGP championship. After securing a good haul of points, which maintained his sixth position in the championship, the Italian will be aiming to close the gap to his nearest championship rivals.

PETRONAS Yamaha SRT, who go into the Gran Premio de Teruel second in the teams’ championship, will be out on track for Friday’s FP1 session at 10.55am local time (4.55pm MYT). Sunday’s 23-lap MotoGP race will take place at 1pm local time (7pm MYT).

Fabio Quartararo

"We know that our one-lap pace is really good around MotorLand Aragón, which is quite important to be in a good position for the start of the race. However, for the race as a whole it is not that important and you need more than this. For this weekend we need to improve our rear grip, the consistency of our tyres and check that we found out the solution to the last race’s issue. Working with the team we have seen where we can improve, so we will work on this and see what happens this weekend. We have the potential to finish with a good result from this circuit."

"I am confident going into this second race at MotorLand Aragón; we will try to improve last Sunday’s result. We worked very well last weekend, it was a good result and I think we were just missing some small details, which would have helped us fight for the podium. With these small things I believe we could have stayed with the riders at the front. I think we made the correct choice with the tyre, but we need to analyse this ahead of our next race at the circuit again and improve our performance in the race, specially in hotter conditions. We will take what we learned, make some small changes and try again this weekend."
