Andrea Dovizioso is excited for his home round, while Darryn Binder looks forward to ride the Mugello circuit with the big bike.

The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello is the quintessence of passion in motorcycle racing and will be host of the eighth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship this weekend. The iconic venue north-east of Florence embedded in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany is a favorite for teams, riders and fans likewise and always spreads a special atmosphere.

For WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team’s Andrea Dovizioso the Italian Grand Prix is even more unique and important. The Italian urgently wants to do well this weekend, where he celebrated a lot of success and even debuted in the 125cc class back in 2001. Following a difficult start of the season, Dovizioso aims to turn fortunes around on home soil.

Like most of the riders on the grid, Darryn Binder is a huge fan of the Mugello Circuit as well and usually felt good and obtained decent results in the Moto3 class. Once again, he’ll have to tackle the 5.2-kilometer track for the first time aboard the Yamaha YZR-M1, but is excited to hit the tarmac once Free Practice one starts at 09.55 local time on Friday.

Obviously, the Italian Grand Prix is a huge event for the team’s title sponsor WithU and more partners of the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team. Next to the premier class, the electric bikes of the WithU GRT RNF MotoE Team will compete for their third round as well, while the recently announced team's eSport rider Michael Amara will raise the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team flags high at the inaugural round of the 2022 MotoGP eSports season.

“I’m really excited to get to Mugello, it’s such a famous and iconic track and to go there on a MotoGP bike will be really special. I’ve always enjoyed riding at Mugello and it has always been a good track for me, so I’m very curious to try the YZR-M1 there. After a difficult weekend in Le Mans, I just want Mugello to arrive already, so I can start over, try to turn things around and have a good weekend.”

“The Italian GP will be a very exciting round for us, being one of the two home Grand Prix of many of our sponsors, especially WithU. We are expecting a lot of guests during that weekend and we look forward to host and entertain them. For Andrea it’s a home GP as well. Mugello is a track, where he was successful in the past. We know, that he is not enjoying himself at the moment on his YZR-M1, but I think both, the team and the rider will continue to work hard to get the maximum potential out of the bike and we’ll support Andrea where we can.

“For Darryn, it’s similar. We will guide, develop and support him as best as we can. Mugello is a track, that he likes. He’s very familiar with the circuit, although it will be different on the big bike. I still think, he can get up to speed and we’ll see if he can still maintain his second position in the rookies standings. We look forward to the Italian Grand Prix.”

“Mugello is always an exciting race, because the layout is fantastic and the crowd plus the amount of guests is special. So, we are looking forward to that race. Especially for the riders, it’s a fantastic track. Of course, for Andrea it’s the first home round and we are looking forward to everything, especially to all our guests and sponsors, which should be coming in great numbers to show what we have built in the winter time. Obviously, I refer to our hospitality, which we will be using to its full potential. I’m looking forward, especially to some sunshine there!”
