WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team is Charged to Turn the Page

Darryn Binder and Andrea Dovizioso are pumped to start the second half of the season this weekend in Great Britain.

Following a five weeks’ summer break the entire WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team is more than ready to kick off the second half of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship season. Round 12 of the year will take place this weekend at the traditional Silverstone Circuit in England and with fully charged batteries, the squad aims to turn the page after a tricky first part of the season.

Rookie Darryn Binder had a great debut in the premier class. Scoring some points in two races with a top 10 in Indonesia as his personal best result, the South African made some clear progress throughout the initial rounds. Although he starts from scratch at each circuit, coming straight from the Moto3 class, he is eager to continue his strong progress throughout the remainder of the year.

On the other hand, Andrea Dovizioso was struggling to decently get to grips with his Yamaha YZR-M1 machine. Nevertheless, the three times MotoGP runner-up keeps trying to find improvements for himself and further adapt his riding style in order to build up on his 10 points scored so far. Just before the summer break, he made some good steps in Germany and the Netherlands and targets to carry on where he left off.

The British Grand Prix starts this Friday with Free Practice one at 9:55 local time (10:55 CET), followed by FP2 at 14:10 local time (15:10 CET).

“I’m really excited to get back racing and to start the second half of the season. It has been a very nice break, nine races left. I’ve really enjoyed Silverstone in the past, it’s a good track. Sometimes the weather can be a little bit tricky, but I’m looking forward to get out there on the MotoGP bike and get the second half of the season underway.”

“I think Silverstone is one of the best tracks in our calendar, it’s wide and fast. You can find everything on that track. Yet, it’s very, very difficult to be competitive there and it’s very demanding, but a really wonderful track, so it’s very nice to go back there and race in Great Britain.”

“Silverstone is a track and a destination we are looking forward to. It will be quite uncertain in terms of weather, given the heat wave across Europe and especially in the UK. But I’m sure our riders will adapt to it. We will continue to give our utmost support to both, Darryn Binder and Andrea Dovizioso. We look forward to get back on track, we’ll do the best we can in order to ensure that the team gets maximum points.”

“After the long summer break, which was very welcome for everybody as this first half cost a lot of energy, we are of course fully loaded for the second part of the season with nine races and is actually quite ‘standard’ with four European races to come and four overseas, which we are all familiar with. But first of all, we are looking forward to Silverstone. Hopefully the weather is going to be with us. We always call it ‘Paradise Island’, as you never know what you’re going to get.”

“Our bike is usually working very well there. The riders having been training quite good this summer break, Darryn was enjoying South Africa and Andrea stayed in Italy, riding a bit of Motocross, had a bit free time with the family, but also has been training hard. We can’t wait for this British round to see how our package will perform there. I think the whole team is ready and refreshed to start again.”
