Explosive Start at the Spanish Grand Prix for Geerts & Seewer

Explosive Start at the Spanish Grand Prix for Geerts & Seewer

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s Jago Geerts put in a showstopping performance in the MX2 Qualifying Race to secure his fourth pole of the season. At the same time, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP's Jeremy Seewer demonstrated remarkable prowess, qualifying third in the premier class, with Glenn Coldenhoff pushing his way to sixth place.

The sixth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Madrid, Spain, began with high drama as the MXGP Qualifying Race was red-flagged and restarted following a first-turn incident involving one of the main MXGP title contenders, Romain Febvre. The Yamaha Family wishes Febvre a quick and complete recovery.
Upon restarting, Seewer exhibited his lightning-fast starting skills, chasing Jorge Prado around the first turn. While the Swiss sensation showed great speed, he was soon overtaken by Jeffrey Herlings but held strong thereafter to secure his best Qualifying Race result of the season, third. At the same time, Coldenhoff tackled the demanding and relentless rut-riddled clay track to finish sixth.
Unfortunately, Maxime Renaux, had to withdraw from the race after making a mistake and dabbing his foot. Although he did not fall, he could not continue and went straight to the medical center for evaluation. An update on his condition will be shared on when available.
In the MX2 class, Geerts continued to build on his stellar form from the previous round, displaying exceptional speed, technique, and overall riding mastery as he cruised to a dominant Qualifying Race victory. He now leads the MX2 World Championship by 40-points.

Thibault Benistant powered his Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 backed YZ250FM to sixth position, despite a costly error that forced him off the track, while, Rick Elzinga, despite struggling with health issues, persevered to finish 19th.
