Ben Watson had been a strong MX2 contender since he entered the European EMX250 championship in 2014, immediately proving his worth by finishing inside the top-three in four races with two race wins.

After finishing in fifth place in his EMX250 rookie season, Ben made his pro debut in the FIM MX2 World Championship in 2015 where he finished 21st despite missing a number of rounds. Having learnt and developed from his first term in MX2, the promising young Brit lined up in three rounds of the 2016 MX2 World Championship before a leg injury at the MXGP of Argentina put him out for the remainder of the year. Fully recovered in 2017, the teenager entered his second season in MX2 and finished inside the top-ten in eight races and wrapped up the year with a fifteenth-place ranking.

For the first time in his career, in 2018 the Briton lined up on a Yamaha YZ250F where he managed to hit a career milestone by taking a maiden podium at the MX2 Grand Prix of Russia. A consistent threat to the top-three in the MX2 World Championship, the then 21-year-old narrowly missed out on the bronze medal but exceeded his own expectations and finished fourth in the final classification.

In 2019, Ben was able to celebrate from the third step of the podium at his team’s home Grand Prix in Lommel but ended up missing the majority of the season due to injury.

Out for redemption in 2020, Ben will line up in the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team for his final MX2 season in hopes of putting his works YZ250FM consistently on the podium.
