The 2018 YZ450F Works Edition Debut
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing riders Romain Febvre and Jeremy Van Horebeek debuted the revolutionary 2018 Yamaha YZ450FM at the craziest and most anticipated event of the year, the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. The event took place at Matterley Basin, in Great Britain.
The bike has been completely overhauled and redesigned from the ground up and had been described as lighter, narrower and more compact. Both riders agreed that the cutting-edge improvements to the all-new YZ450FM offers extra stability and control over rough terrain, better braking, and even greater traction.
Utilizing the undeniable power and torque of the all-new bike, both Febvre and Van Horebeek - and Arnaud Tonus who was also racing a 2018 YZ450F - made up the top-five on the exit of turn-one in the final race of the day. Febvre had the partisan crowd going wild as he challenged the home soil hero - Max Anstie - for the lead, while Van Horebeek and Tonus succumbed to the pressure of the MXGP vice World Champion Jeffrey Herlings.
Every moment of drama, such as a pass or a mistake, saw the fans furiously erupt with emotion. Febvre delivered a silver medal performance in the Open Class on-board the all-new 2018 YZ450FM, which crowned a historic weekend for his team - Team France - who landed on the top step of the podium for the fourth year in succession.
Van Horebeek's speed on-board the all-new bike was also mind-blowing although a couple of small mistakes due to the brutal condition of the track hindered his overall result, which was fourth place. Team Belgium also finished fourth.
