Geerts Powers to Pole Position in Lombok as Seewer Fights to Fourth

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2's Jago Geerts powered his YZ250FM to Pole Position with a statement performance in qualifying at the 11th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Lombok, Indonesia. At the same time Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer put in a thrilling ride to finish fourth in the premier class with teammate Glenn Coldenhoff fighting back from a fall to seventh.

Celebrating a milestone 100th Grand Prix start, Geerts confirmed his triumphant return to full fitness since his wrist injury at the MXGP of France. The Belgian tackled the challenge of the brand-new track and venue in Lombok with confidence and displayed incredible skill and adaptability as he raced to a convincing Qualifying Race victory – his fifth of the season.

At the same time, Rick Elzinga put up an impressive fight on the tight and jumpy circuit to finish sixth after battling the top-three for the first two laps, while Thibault Benistant showed his fighting spirit, overcoming illness to secure an eighth-place finish.

In MXGP, Seewer showed his grit as he went bar-to-bar with his closest championship rivals Ruben Fernandez and Romain Febvre in an intense battle for second. The Swiss star got off to a rip-roaring start but struggled to find his comfort zone on the challenging gravel-like dirt of Lombok and ultimately finished fourth after a few costly errors.

At the same time, Glenn Coldenhoff put in an epic ride to finish seventh after falling on the opening lap.
