Riding on a high after his recent victory in Switzerland, Renaux demonstrated his prowess by charging to second place in the MXGP qualifier at the fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Pietramurata, Italy. Starting in third place, the talented Frenchman capitalized on minor errors by Seewer, who eventually placed fourth. Coldenhoff faced an uphill battle navigating the tight and narrow Ciclamino Circuit after his mediocre start. Despite the difficulties in passing, the Dutch rider persevered and secured a ninth-place finish.
Meanwhile, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team showcased their exceptional form, persistence, and speed at the MX2 Grand Prix of Trentino, with title contenders Thibault Benistant and Jago Geerts leading the charge.
In the MX2 Qualifier, Geerts initially held a slight edge over Benistant in the fight for second place. However, misfortune struck on the 12th and final lap when Geerts fell on a stoney right-hander. Benistant seized the opportunity and finished second, while Geerts slipped further down and ultimately finished fourth. Rick Elzinga also displayed determination, recovering from a fall on the opening lap to finish 10th.
The captivating Ciclamino Circuit provided the perfect backdrop for an enthralling day of Qualifying Race action. With the introduction of points awarded for Qualifying Race results in 2023, Renaux's performance elevated him to second place in the MXGP Championship Standings. At the same time, in MX2, Benistant closed the gap and is now 18 points behind his teammate Geerts in the battle for the MX2 Championship lead.
