Gerloff and Nozane into a Good Rhythm at Misano Test

Gerloff and Nozane into a Good Rhythm at Misano Test

The GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team completed another two days of testing at the Misano World Circuit on 16-17 March in preparation of the 2022 FIM Superbike World Championship. Kohta Nozane and Garrett Gerloff got the chance to ride their Yamaha R1 WorldSBKs again, combining for over 300 laps of the Italian venue.

Both riders and team could benefit from good weather in Misano, with running interrupted only for a short period in the late afternoon on the opening day due to a red flag.

Gerloff set a 1’34.376, completing 72 laps, on the first day and although he had a small off at Turn 7, this didn’t impact his work and performance, while Nozane’s fastest lap was a 1’35.455, having run 74 laps.

Despite a red flag once again on the second day for a short while, the GRT Yamaha team kept doing its job and collected good data for the future. Gerloff ended the day and the test with a 1’33.686, after 92 laps, as Nozane made a step forward to post a 1’34.790 (66 laps).

The next pre-season test event for the GRT Yamaha team is scheduled for 25-26 March at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

We’re heading in a good direction. I’m impressed and satisfied with the work Yamaha did with the different parts. Today we tried some setup changes and we made a big improvement. The bike feels great and it was nice to have two dry days. Now it’s all about putting the small pieces together, we’ll have another test in just one week in Barcelona, where we’ll have more teams and riders to compare ourselves to.

Kohta Nozane: 1’34.790 – 140 laps

I’m happy to have had two more days of testing at a circuit I really like. We tried new things and made a step forward from day one to day two at Misano. There is still work to do, but step by step we’re putting the pieces together to improve our performance. Now, just keep improving for the next test at Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya, another track I feel quite comfortable with.
