Loris Baz and Ten Kate Yamaha Ready to Start the Season

Loris Baz and the Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSBK Supported Team can look back on a successful final pre-season test on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The Frenchman ended second on the timesheets which made him the fastest Yamaha rider. Both the team and the rider seem ready for the start of the season.

On Monday and Tuesday the final pre-season test took place on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit ahead of the 2020 season, the season that will start next Friday on the same Australian track.

It was a perfect opportunity for Loris Baz and the Dutch Ten Kate Yamaha squad to complete the final preparations and compare themselves with the opposition once again ahead of the start of the season.

The positive recent test at the Portimão circuit seemed to be no fluke as Loris Baz was among the fastest again during these two days, where he was constantly circulating within the top five.

Afterwards, Baz’s 1’30.524 made him end up second on the timesheets and he became the best Independent Team and best Yamaha rider on the grid.

Position: 2nd Time: 1'30.524

For us the season can start, we are ready. The past two days we have done a lot of work, tried many things and we can look back on, once again, a very positive test. We have been able to test many things back-to-back with our eyes on the coming weekend. However, there are a few areas where we need to find something for the races, but I am very satisfied and I am very confident going into the season opener. I am sure that I will have a great season together with this team.

I have a lot of respect for Loris and all the people within the team for what they have accomplished in recent months. During the winter tests we have been constantly in the top five, quite an achievement for our small private team. The past two days we weren’t even outside the top three. I think that in the past three of four years Ten Kate Racing wasn’t as strong as they are now. We are confidently looking forward to the coming weekend, we’re ready and bring on the races.
