The GIL Motorsport Yamaha WorldSBK Team returned to the FIM Superbike World Championship in 2021, seven years after they last contested the series. Rider Christophe Ponsson took a best finish of ninth in the Barcelona Superpole Race, while his biggest points haul came with a 10th-place result in Race 1 at Portimao.

In 2022, the team will once again run a single Yamaha R1 WorldSBK for Ponsson, with goals of building on the promising results last year.
