2016 ushered in a stellar year for Englishman Alex Lowes. With his raw speed, talent and determination clear to see, he was chosen to partner Yamaha to debut and develop the YZF-R1 in its WorldSBK comeback season, claiming front row qualifications and top-five race finishes by mid-season. Joining the Yamaha Factory Racing Team for the 39th Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, alongside Katsuyuki Nakasuga and Pol Espargaro, Lowes piloted the YZF-R1 across the line with a dominant lead claiming a second consecutive victory for the Japanese manufacturer. 


The 26-year-old racer was also drafted in to assist the Yamaha Tech3 MotoGP Team, claiming a points-scoring finish in his home-race debut aboard the YZR-M1 at Silverstone. Lowes remains with Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team for 2017 with his eyes firmly set on a WorldSBK Championship challenge.
