Michael van der Mark

The 25-year-old Dutch rider Michael van der Mark enjoyed a successful debut season with the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team in 2017, impressing throughout the year and recording podiums in Portimao and Magny-Cours. After making his debut in 2011, he went on to become the 2012 European Superstock 600 Champion, lifting the 2014 Supersport World Championship and making the step up to the WorldSBK class for 2015. After recording nine podiums and one pole position during his first two seasons, he moved to the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team in 2017 and is now preparing to mount a serious title challenge in his second year with the team in 2018.

2017 also saw van der Mark record his third Suzuka 8 Hours victory but first with Yamaha, as he won the legendary endurance race with the Yamaha Factory Racing Team of Alex Lowes and Katsuyuki Nakasuga. He also made his MotoGP debut covering for Jonas Folger in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team in Malaysia and Japan, finishing in 16th & 17th respectively during the races.
