Caricasulo Dominates Qualifying to Claim Pole Position
Bardahl Evan Bros. Yamaha Supported WorldSSP rider, Federico Caricasulo, will start tomorrow's 18-lap FIM Supersport World Championship race from pole position after a dominant performance in today's Superpole shootout.
The Italian shattered the existing pole record to claim the top spot on the timesheet with an advantage over his Bardahl Yamaha teammate and main championship rival, Randy Krummenacher, of almost half a second.
Caricasulo trails championship leader Krummenacher by just 15 points in the standings, and with just four races remaining over which the title fight will be decided, tomorrow's encounter between the two teammates at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão promises to be thriller.
Kallio Racing Yamaha Supported WorldSSP rider, Isaac Vinales, will also be looking to be in the fight for podium glory tomorrow, after qualifying in fourth today, to secure a start from the head of the second row in tomorrow's race.
A difficult Superpole session saw GMT94 Yamaha Supported WorldSSP rider, Jules Cluzel, facing a tough race, which he will start from eighth place on the third row of the grid. Despite this disadvantage, it's a fairly safe bet that a hard charging Cluzel, the only rider other than the Bardahl teammates to win races this season, will be fighting it out at the front of the race tomorrow.
GMT94 Yamaha's Corentin Perolari will start tomorrow from 14th position, with Kallio Racing Yamaha's Loris Cresson one place further back on the grid in 15th. Maria Herrera, standing in aboard the Kallio Racing Yamaha R6 for the injured Thomas Gradinger, will start from position 21 on the grid.
