Caricasulo Sets the WorldSSP Pace on Opening Day in Portimão

Bardahl Evan Bros. Yamaha Supported WorldSSP rider, Federico Caricasulo, got Round 9 of the FIM Supersport World Championship off to a flying start by topping the timesheet on the opening day in Portimão. The Italian finished with an advantage of three-tenths of a second over his teammate and championship leader, Randy Krummenacher, who was second.

While Caricasulo's fastest lap came this afternoon, Krummenacher posted his quickest lap this morning, despite a crash for the Swiss rider as the session drew to a close.

GMT94 Yamaha Supported WorldSSP rider, Jules Cluzel, followed the two Bardahl Yamaha riders home to finish third fastest while Kallio Racing Yamaha's Isaac Viñales put in a strong performance this afternoon to finish the day in fifth place.

GMT94 Yamaha's Corentin Perolari was tenth, with Kallio Racing Yamaha's Loris Cresson two places further back in 12th.

Kallio Racing Yamaha's Thomas Gradinger was passed unfit to ride this weekend, following a testing accident that left him with a fractured heel.
