Debise Delights with Second Place on Sunday While Manzi Secures Third

Debise Delights with Second Place on Sunday While Manzi Secures Third

Valentin Debise (GMT94 Yamaha) gave French fans another treat in Race 2 on Sunday in Magny-Cours when he rode to an impressive second place, while Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing) achieved third.

Debise and Manzi both made strong starts off the line, slotting into second and third in the early stages of the race, but Manzi slipped back to sixth while Debise charged forward. Keen to keep hold of his title chances, Manzi quickly pushed forward again and was back into 3rd by Lap 3. He tried hard to close the gap to rival Nicolo Bulega and fellow Yamaha rider Debise out front, but to no avail and he had to opt for a solid third-place finish. However, out front the Frenchman kept the pressure on until the final flag and was elated to bring himself and his team another podium on French soil.

Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) had another very strong day, fighting it out in the Top 5 for the majority of the hot and challenging race. The Italian crossed the line in sixth, his best result since joining the championship in Most.

It was great to be able to improve my result from yesterday, where I finished third and achieved my first podium. Because it was my first podium yesterday I didn’t want to push too hard as I really wanted to achieve it. Today I felt more free to go for it and it worked out well. I learned a lot yesterday, and together with my team we could improve. I gained a few tenths compared to Saturday and I’m happy to get this result in front of a great French crowd.

It was not a great race for us because I struggled a lot. I didn’t have the pace to fight for the win so therefore I’m a bit disappointed – I’m happy to be on the podium but it is not what we come here for. We have to work hard to be stronger in the next races. I had a different feeling with the bike compared to yesterday, so that is something we need to figure out. It is going to be difficult to think about the championship but we will try for sure, and then we will see what happens.
