The morning’s Superpole session was a tricky one for Yamaha, with the highest placed being Glenn van Straalen (EAB Racing Team) in fifth, and next best being Jorge Navarro (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) in ninth. Home favourite Manzi qualified in 11th spot.
It was all change in race one as the blue bikes made a charge for the front of the field, and Manzi looked his usual spirited self as he fought his way through the pack. With the home crowd on his side the Italian rode his R6 hard and took a well-earned second place and the accompanying 20 points.
A trio of Yamahas filled the solid positions of sixth, seventh and eighth in the form of Simone Corsi (Altogo Racing Team), van Straalen and Navarro respectively. Nicholas Spinelli (VFT Racing WEBIKE Yamaha) and Andrea Mantovani (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) both scored points in their home race, closing out in 12th and 14th.
