Stefano Manzi Closes 2023 WorldSSP Season with Second Place in Jerez

Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) rounded off a successful 2023 WorldSSP season with another second-place spot, matching the position he also finishes in the championship standings.

The Spanish sun shone for the start of Race 2 at Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, despite earlier drizzle leaving a few damp spots dotted around the track. Manzi was quick to slot into fourth place and begin the chase for his 17th podium of the season. With 13 laps to go, while he was in the fight for second, a damaged air fence brought out the red flag. The race was restarted for seven laps and the Italian was determined to make the most of his improved grid position. He achieved his 11th second place finish of the year.

Meanwhile, Valentin Debise (GMT94 Yamaha) signed off his season with a sixth-place finish which moved him up to an impressive fifth in the final standings.

Jorge Navarro (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) had a good first half of the race, heading towards a Top 5 finish, but in the restart he could only manage 11th. However, the rookie Spaniard gained two positions in the championship to claim seventh overall.

Stefano Manzi

It was a good race today, it’s nice to finish the season in this way. This gives me energy to keep training hard this winter with a good mentality. I have to say thanks to the Ten Kate Racing team and Yamaha for choosing me this year, in the background they helped me a lot. We didn’t finish in the position we wanted to finish but, in the end, second is not so bad. We will try again next year.
