Ten Kate Racing Yamaha’s Manzi started his path to a potential podium early on Friday morning when he took 2nd in FP1, just 0.077 from the leader. Manzi’s team-mate, Spain’s Jorge Navarro, also made a great start with 7th in the morning – feeling confident on the familiar Catalan track and recovering well from the injury he suffered earlier this season. Yamaha supported rider Glenn van Straalen clocked 11th on the timesheets in the morning, while GMT94’s Valentin Debise finished 13th. Nicholas Spinelli (VFT Racing WEBIKE Yamaha) was 14th.
In the afternoon it was all change in FP2 with the times dropping drastically compared with FP1. However, Manzi was unable to find any extra tenths. The Italian completed the afternoon 4th, which placed him in a decent 5th on combined sessions. Navarro bettered his morning time but closed Friday in 10th, one place ahead of van Straalen. Debise, Spinelli, and Andrea Mantovani (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) all stayed in the Top 20, finishing up in 17th, 18th, and 19th respectively.
