Stefano Manzi Tops the Combined Times at Rainy Donington on Friday

Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) clocked the fastest overall time in WorldSSP on Friday in mixed conditions at Donington Park circuit. The Italian worked hard to top the morning session by just +0.015 seconds and give himself a confidence boost heading into qualifying day.

FP1 saw Manzi remain the top Yamaha as the WorldSSP field got to grips with the newly resurfaced British circuit. He clocked a time of 1’30.177 at the end of the session and sent an early message to his rivals as he continues his championship charge.

In Friday afternoon’s FP2 there were a gaggle of quick Yamahas ready to challenge Manzi, including his team-mate Jorge Navarro (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) who was showing excellent pace. The session was held in extremely tricky conditions with wind and rain sweeping across the technical track and making it hard to put in a quick lap. The times were still relatively close between the top contenders though, with the Top 5 covered by +0.754. Navarro topped the FP2 timesheets while Yamaha Thailand Racing Team’s Anupab Sarmoon put in a sensational session to finish second. Valentin Debise (GMT94 Yamaha) and Manzi closed the afternoon session in fifth and sixth respectively.

Meanwhile, it was an unlucky day for Andrea Mantovani (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) when the Italian suffered a crash at Turn 5 in FP1 and was ruled UNFIT due to a left leg injury and left knee sprain.
