The warm and sunny conditions that the riders enjoyed yesterday were replaced by more traditional British weather today, with both WorldSSP300 qualifying sessions run in the wet. The tricky conditions left Verdoïa unfazed, despite a fast crash at Craner Curves shortly after setting his fastest time to secure second position on the grid.
Galang Hendra's progress to the front row was slightly less dramatic, with the Indonesian youngster qualifying second in his group to claim third position on the front row alongside his bLU cRU teammate.
Team Trasimeno Yamaha's Kevin Sabatucci also secured automatic entry to tomorrow's 13-lap WorldSSP300 race by qualifying in tenth position, but Jacopo Facco, Beatriz Neil and Finn de Bruin were forced to fight for the last six grid slots in today's Last Chance Race, after qualifying outside the top 30.
A superb race by Neila, that saw her progress from 13th on the grid to sixth at the chequered flag, means that the Spanish youngster qualified for the main race for the third round in succession. Unfortunately, Facco and de Bruin missed out but, once again, gained valuable experience in what was a hotly contested Last Chance Race.
