The race was fiercely contested between a huge lead group, and breaking into the pack was to be a tough task for Gennai as he was forced to start from pitlane after a technical issue on the grid. Despite this, the determined young Italian found himself up with the leaders towards the end of the 15-lap race; a truly amazing feat. Despite leading the race in the closing laps he was swept up in the pack and finished in a nevertheless strong seventh place, maintaining his championship lead by one point. His team-mate, Gaggi was also getting stuck into the pack, keeping himself in podium contention and impressing onlookers as he attack his home circuit. Gaggi finished as the highest Yamaha in sixth.
Ruben Bijman (Arco Motor University Team) got his best finish of the season in 10th, just fractions ahead of local star Devis Bergamini (A ProGP Racing). Indonesia’s Galang Hendra Pratama (Sublime Racing by MS Racing) closed the race in 12th. Enzo Valentim (Yamaha MS Racing/AD78 Latin America Team) took the lasty points-scoring position in 15th.
Meanwhile, former R3 bLU cRU European Championship riders Matteo Vannucci (AG Motorsport Italia Yamaha) and Humberto Maier (Yamaha MS Racing/AD78 Latin America Team) were unlucky on Sunday, both crashing out of race two.
