Despite good track conditions in Superpole, it was a complicated session for Yamaha’s riders. Gennai was the highest placed in 10th, followed by Emanuele Cazzaniga in 11th and Marco Gaggi in 12th.
In the 10-lap race it was a different story as the R3 riders shone under Emilia-Romagna’s blazing sunshine. Gennai doggedly fought his way through to fight for the victory until the very end of the race. The Italian closed race one in a vital second place which puts him at the head of the WorldSSP300 championship standings. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Maier did a superb job to climb onto the final step of the podium. The Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Championship graduate has been improving race by race and his efforts have paid off with his second podium of the season.
Matteo Vannucci (AG Motorsport Italia Yamaha) had a solid sixth place finish, just ahead of Gaggi (Team BrCorse) while another R3 graduate, Enzo Valentim (Yamaha MS Racing/AD78 Latin America Team), achieved a decent ninth place.
