Ton Kawakami was the next best placed of the bLU cRU class of 2020, with the Brazilian rider finishing less than a second of the top spot in 13th position. Also inside the top 30, which if the position is maintained guarantees automatic entry into the WorldSSP300 races, was Bahatin Sofuoglu, with the Turkish rider rounding out a solid opening day in 21st place.
Alan Kroh heads into tomorrow's third and final free practice session determined to improve on his 32nd position today and to secure a grid slot for Saturday's first WorldSSP300 race. Alvaro Diaz has a little bit more to do to secure automatic entry to the race, having finished in 43rd position today, but remains confident that with the help of his team and the Yamaha bLU cRU caching staff, he can make a significant step tomorrow.
Jerez will feature two WorldSSP300 races this weekend, with the first taking place on Saturday at 16.30 CEST and the second on Sunday at 15.15 CEST. Both races will be contested over 10 laps of the 4.423km Jerez circuit.
