Sofuoğlu and Orradre in the Mix on Friday at Misano for WorldSSP300 Round 2

Sofuoğlu and Orradre in the Mix on Friday at Misano for WorldSSP300 Round 2

Yamaha’s two FIM Supersport 300 World Championship bLU cRU riders demonstrated that they are set to be well amongst the front-runners once again at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with Biblion Motoxracing Yamaha WorldSSP300 Supported Team’s Bahattin Sofuoğlu ending Friday 10th on combined times, just one place and 0.012s ahead of Yamaha MS Racing WorldSSP300 Supported Team’s Unai Orradre.

Looking to bounce back after a difficult first weekend at Aragón, Sofuoğlu was quickly up to speed at the Italian venue and led Free Practice 1 early on, eventually ending the session fifth fastest. In the afternoon, the Turkish rider suffered a high-speed fall on his third lap at the final corner and was unable to restart.

Orradre comes to Misano third in the standings and was also on the pace early in the morning session, despite having never raced here in WorldSSP300. The Spanish youngster was sixth in Free Practice 1, and although he couldn’t improve in the afternoon’s hotter track temperatures, Orradre still impressed to go eighth in FP2.

Viñales Racing Yamaha Supported WorldSSP300 Team’s Dean Berta Viñales made good progress across Friday’s free practice sessions, with the Spaniard improving his time in the afternoon by 1.213s, despite the rising track temperature, to go 20th on combined times. Kevin Sabatucci also made a step forward between the two sessions, enjoying a similar improvement to his fastest lap as his teammate, to end the day 36th overall.
