The 19-year-old was 15th at the end of Free Practice 1 but managed to go almost a second quicker in the afternoon session, with his time of 1’46.566 putting him inside the top five at the Czech venue.
Championship leader Alvaro Diaz was in the mix once again, going seventh fastest in both sessions. The bLU cRU graduate topped the timings earlier in FP2, before two red flags disrupted the final 10 minutes of the session.
Title rival Marc Garcia managed his best time in the morning’s FP1 session, and was unable to improve in the afternoon. Still, the Yamaha MS Racing rider ended the day just behind Diaz in eighth.
Yamaha’s WorldSSP300 riders will return to the track for the Superpole tomorrow at 09:45 (GMT+2), setting the grid for the all-important races.
