Vannucci (AG Motorsport Italia Yamaha) once again took advantage of his pole position to get off to a great start as he attempted to catch the early leader. However, as is often the case in the class, a huge lead pack of competitive riders were ready to trade blows. The young Italian struck the balance well between defending his place and continuing to chase the race header. By Lap 4 he had made the leap into the lead, but several laps of battling ensued. Vannucci continued to fight for victory for the entire 12-lap scrap, and he managed to achieve a great second place at the line. This result moves him into fourth in the standings. Gaggi (Team BrCorse) had a similar story as he showed great form to remain in contention throughout, and despite a track limits warning on the penultimate lap, he pushed on for an excellent third place and his second podium of the season.
After a disheartening Saturday which saw Gennai finish outside the points thanks to a jumpstart and subsequent double long lap penalty, the young BrCorse rider showed all the tenacity and grit that he has become known for. From a lowly 26th on the grid the Italian carved through the field to lead the race and stay in the podium fight until the last lap where a small mistake pushed him back to fourth. Nevertheless, a great comeback and useful result for his title chances.
