The morning’s FP1 session saw Vannucci place as the top Yamaha and set the second fastest time, just +0.113 from the top. Ruben Bijman, Galang Hendra Pratama and Mirko Gennai all placed their R3 machines within the Top 10 as they got to grips with the sizzling circuit.
In the afternoon the temperatures soared and the track was around 50 degrees Celsius for the class’ FP2 session, but this didn’t deter Vannucci as the youngster became one of very few riders to improve. A flying lap of 1’52.914 sealed the deal and gave him top spot on the day, offering fresh hope for his title chances as the season heads towards its end. Bijman and Hendra Pratama remained in the Top 10 – which was covered by eight tenths of a second - while Gennai slipped to 11th on combined.
