Böhnke and the Yamaha YXZ1000R Take Victory in Germany

Driver Christian Böhnke has kicked off the 2019 YXZ1000R Cup in Germany in perfect form, taking two race victories at Marisfeld on the 6th April in the Endurance Masters Event.

The cold, but sunny conditions were the perfect setting for the inaugural Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup, with Böhnke dominating from the start on the 4km track with his Side-by-Side machine, leading from the first timed practice of the day.  His form continued in the first race, leading from early on and remaining unchallenged to the finish line.

Drivers Jens Albrecht and Renato Heinrich were not far behind in their Yamaha machines, keeping the pressure on to secure the second and third place in the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup Germany.

The second race saw more of the same from 29yr old Böhnke, who won the one-hour race with a dominant lead from the start.

Having taken second position in the first race, Albrecht was less fortunate in the following race, fighting a slow puncture and unable to make it to the finish line. Austrian driver Heinrich seized the opportunity, securing second place in what was the last race of the day.

Aside from Albrecht's slow puncture none of the 22 Yamaha YXZ1000Rs experienced any technical issues over the event, proving the machine's race ready credentials in the tough conditions.

The Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup Germany competes inside the races against all competing side-by-side machines. The sport is growing rapidly in Germany with many off-road drivers switching to side-by-side vehicles. The Yamaha YXZ1000R is already proving itself as the perfect machine for any off-road racer to race a fast Side-by-Side at an affordable price.

The Yamaha drivers are back in action at multiple events over the next months.
