Gourg triumphs at 6 Hours Endurance Saint Laurent d’Arce
Team Gourg driver Patrick Gourg took a dominant victory in the second round of the YXZ1000R Cup France at the 6 Hour Endurance Saint Laurent d’Arce race from 16-17 March near Bordeaux.
Held on demanding terrain that pushed the Yamaha machinery to the limit, the race featured five teams at the start. Team Sagnes driver Christophe Sagnes took an early lead, his aggressive driving style delighting spectators and building a gap to rest of the field. Despite his form however Sagnes was to lose his lead when a technical failure just thirty minutes from the finish forced him to retire, and consigned him to finish 7th overall.
Gourg’s race was won through consistently fast pace which gave him a lead that he held until the finish, crossing the line in first place. The result meant he took 10th position in the scratch score that combines competing Side-by-Sides and cars, third position in the SSV-only class and overall leader of the YXZ1000R Cup France.
Behind Team Gourg, Team Sagnes took a strong second place less than two laps behind the winners. Two other teams fell victim to the harsh terrain of the Saint Laurent d’Arce race however and were unable to finish with Team Gazon, who had managed an impressive pace in a stock category YXZ1000R, involved in an unfortunate crash with another vehicle just two laps from the finish line.
