Mário Franco returns to victories and Eric Steichen accumulates triumphs

Mário Franco and Eric Steichen, both registered by Franco Sport, were the winners of another stage of the Yamaha Cup dedicated to the YXZ1000R model that is held alongside the Portuguese Off-Road Championship.

The Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup held its third round in the 32nd edition of the Ferraria Raid, a competition organized by the Ferraria Recreational Center, which took place at Abrantes and Gavião and included a total of 218.5km.In the Open class, which had 7 teams at the start, Mário Franco accompanied by Nuno Matias Guilherme achieved his first win of the 2019 season in this competition, which he won last year.

The fight for the second position was between the team André Rodrigues / Ricardo Porto Nunes, entered by Franco Sport, and Nuno and Paula Gameiro of the Vaz Racing Team. This was a very lively competition and ended with a minimum difference of 9 seconds between the two. It was the pair of Franco Sport that won the second place.

Outside the podium places finished Antonio Ferreira, with Tiago Dias, in 4th place and the pair José and Pedro Manescas, who were in the first position of the Cup tied at 1st place with the pair André Rodrigues / Ricardo Porto Nunes. The team Fernando Pinheiro / Bernardo Miguel closed the classification.

In the Stock class took part three teams and the Frenchman Eric Steichen won again. The French driver entered by Franco Sport triumphed in all the selective sectors and extended his advantage that in the end was 9m44s. The Junior duo composed by João Franco / Pedro Inácio and the rookies Alexandre Relvas / Nuno Franco completed the podium.

With one more stage successfully completed, the Yamaha Motor Portugal team takes a positive view of this participation of the competition in the Ferraria Raid: "this is an increasingly competitive championship and the YXZ1000R Cup confirms this and the teams and drivers are up to the challenge. "This April was hard for all the participants which had very little time to prepare their machines.But still the results were very positive. The next round of the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup will be played in Alentejo in the Baja TT Capital dos Vinhos de Portugal held in Reguengos de Monsaraz between 24 and 26 May.
