Ventura and Brun End Season on a High with Baja Poland Victory

After securing the 2022 FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas T4 championship at the previous round, Quaddy Racing’s Amerigo Ventura and co-driver Mirko Brun ended the season in perfect fashion by storming to their fourth consecutive class victory at the Baja Poland.

It was a case of mission completed for the Quaddy Racing Team as they ended a spectacular season in style by winning the T4 class at the fifth and final round of the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas in Poland. Despite Ventura and Brun already being crowned champions after victory at Round 4 in Hungary, the duo did not let up for the season's final race that took place between the 2nd-4th of September.

Consisting of five special stages, the Baja Poland kicked off with a 6km Prologue on Friday, followed by two 216km stages on Saturday, before finishing with another two 30km stages on Sunday. Each stage took place over tricky sandy terrain that created a constantly changing environment, but the Quaddy Racing GYTR-kitted YXZ1000R once again showed its class against its prototype rivals.

After completing Friday’s Prologue second in the T4 category, Ventura and Brun powered through the tricky conditions to win the second stage and take the overall lead in the class. Pushing hard through the remaining three stages, they never relinquished their lead to secure the T4 victory by 5 minutes and 34 seconds from their closest rival and finish in tenth overall.

The win capped off a dominant season for the Quaddy Racing Team that saw them take four T4 victories and a second-place finish in the five races to secure the teams’, drivers’, and co-drivers’ titles in the class. The result also meant that Ventura and Brun secured third overall in the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas Driver’s & Co-Driver’s Championships, respectively.

“I am thrilled with how the Baja Poland went, not just because we took the victory, but also because of how well our GYTR-kitted YXZ1000R coped with the difficult sandy conditions. Honestly, it was the perfect machine to tackle such terrain. It is incredible to think this is a standard YXZ1000R just with the GYTR kit, yet we have shown all year that we have nothing to fear when racing against our more powerful and expensive prototype rivals. It was the perfect way to end an incredible season. I want to thank my Quaddy Racing team for all of their hard work and Yamaha for their support and for providing us with such a good and reliable vehicle. We will now turn our focus to the 2023 season, and we already have some exciting plans.”
